Music Shops in York

Unfortunately, good quality pianos don’t come cheap, making it important that you buy from a well-respected piano shop. We’ve complied a list of good piano shops in York, all of which are established due to their reasonable prices, great customer service and friendly staff. Buy from one of these shops and you can’t go too far wrong!

The PianoMan is an award winning piano specialist shop that sells everything a piano enthusiast could want. Uprights, grands, electrics…you name it, he’s got it! The Piano Man himself, Mark Crossland, has over 25 years of experience selling pianos so he’s got a great wealth of skill when selling the right piano to the right customer. The out-of-town showroom is a particular plus because this allows you to try out a wide variety of pianos and get a good feel for key-weight and action before you commit to buying. The Piano Man is located within a short driving distance of York centre at 168-170 Easterly Road, Leeds, LS8 3AD so there really is no excuse not to take a look if you want to buy a new piano.

Stephen Brandon Pianos is located just slightly outside of York city centre at 23B Whitby Avenue, Off Stockton Lane, York, YO31 1EU. They have been selling new pianos for over 30 years, but actually specialise in selling restored pianos such as much-sought-after Steinways and Bechstein Pianos. These pianos are well-worth checking out because, like many of the finer things in life, pianos only get better with age. Stephen Brandon even has a few antique pianos that are over 100 years old! As if this wasn’t enough, Stephen and his staff are all really helpful and won’t hesitate to give you expert advise if you’re unsure on what to buy. All-in-all, this really is a top-quality establishment!

Red Cow Music really does have the best name for a music shop ever! We’re not sure why or how the sop acquired this name, but what we do know is that they know all there is to know about musical instruments. It’s strictly a folk-instrument shop, but if you’re looking to branch out from playing just the pianos, this might be the shop to spark your imagination. They sell a good variety of squeezeboxes and accordions, which don’t take too much readjustment for a piano player because they are ultimately a keyboard based instrument

Piano Tuning Yorkshire tune pianos. John, the mastermind behind the business, has over 35 years experience in tuning pianos and a number of very prestigious qualifications so you know that your pianos will be in good hands. He’s even worked in a piano-making factory, so rest assured, your piano could not be in better hands. But this is not all. Piano Tuning Yorkshire also refurbish pianos. And Piano Tuning Yorkshire repairs pianos. So, as the name might suggest, Piano Tuning Yorkshire is not a boring one trick pony, but a polymathic musical unicorn. To unleash this multi-talented beast upon your piano, head down to 10 Fairfield Gardens, Ossett, West Yorkshire, WF5 0LX.
